Have you ever asked yourself why we never saw windows 9? It
is because Microsoft believes that Windows 10 is an upgrade of such magnitude
deserves a notable digit. Well Microsoft announced about windows 10 last September
but it was until last month that we got more details and finally tried it.
More importantly, much of the code inside he OS is shared
across form factors and devices, which will allow developers to create apps
that works everywhere, even on an Xbox. Microsoft itself led the way creating a
unified people app working across all windows 10 devices, shared outlook app
plus mandatory Office package.
Windows 10 technical review of desktop was released a while
back, but finally we got to see Windows 10 technical review for phones. We were
really eager to get a glimpse of what’s coming and we finally downloaded it.
The preview for phones is currently available for Lumia 630,
Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lum ia 638, Lumia 730 and Lumia 830. It will later seeded
to Insider program member with Lumia 1520, Lumia 930 and Lumia 1020. Microsoft has
promised that by the time Windows 10 is ready for primetime, it will be
compatible with all Windows 8 based Lumia smartphones, even if some of those
with limited processing speed may miss some new features.
What is new in Windows 10 for phones?
Full Size background image for Start: We believe phones
should be intensely personal, so we have added another option to customize the
start screen with a full size background image.
Interactive Notification: Notifications are now interactive,
allowing you to take action directly like dismissing an alarm, or seeing images
or maps.
More powerful photos app: From the very first launch, photos
will show the aggregated set of all your local photos and all your OneDrive
photos.
Significantly enhanced speech-to-text capability: You can
talk virtually any data field you choose. Your words shows up as you speak with
punctuation. This feature is so smart enough to understand when you use two the
number and too in as also.
More quick actions in action Center: we have increased the
number of quick actions available to you. Windows 8.1 has four programmable
quick actions – but with windows 10 you also get extended that can now have up
to three rows.
In addition to these features, we can also confirm the new
settings menu onboard the technical preview plus some of the system apps have
been refreshed with new UI.
Windows 10 is not going to fix anything, but these changes
to windows 8’s most divise elements has made a world of difference to OS. And
that’s crucial to windows’ future, as Microsoft is still looking at the big
picture: PCs are old news.
Desktops and laptops will handle most of our work and play,
but smartphones and tablets have since stolen the limelight: Future OS will
need to bridge the gap..
