Ever you watched the famous Star trek or star wars? If No,
watch them but if yes, they have many things in common, one of them is the
energy shield which makes them indestructible from their enemy weapons; that
entire energy shield is also present on earth to block us from killer energy
radiations from space.
A team from University of Colorado Boulder discovered why we
are safe from many space hazards, it is astonishing discovery. They discovered the
Star Trek like shield which covers and encases the entire planet in Van Allen
radiation belt which is located at 7200 miles above the Earth’s surface, also
this Van Allen radiation belt is the one of the things disapproving the moon
landing.
The belts are two doughnut shaped rings above the Earth that
are filled with high-energy electrons and protons. The electrons which whip
around the planet at near light speed have been known to threaten lives of astronauts
when in space, destroy satellites and degrade space systems during intense
solar storms, the scientists from the University of Colorado has now discovered
why the killer electrons does not move deeper into the earth’s atmosphere
threatening life, there is an extremely sharp boundary at the inner edge of the
outer belt which acts to block the electrons moving deeper into the earth.
Held in place by Earth’s magnetic field, the Van Allen
radiation belt periodically swell and shrink in response to incoming energy
disturbance from the Sun which is a very puzzling and cool thing as if it is
automatic having some sought of brain knowing when to shrink and when to expand.
It was originally believed that the highly charged electrons,
which are looping around the earth at a speed of about 10000 mph, would slowly
drift downwards into the upper atmosphere and gradually be wiped out by interaction
of air molecules, but the impeachable twin Van Allen belt stops the electrons
before they get into the earth.
The belts were discovered in 1958 by a scientist called
James Van Allen from the university of lowa while aboard the first US space
mission, one theory suggested that the particles were accelerated as they
trapped inside, second theory on the formation of the belt was that the
particles were created inside the belt and accelerated by the force within, NASA
even sent probes to track the behavior of the belts and the satellites probes
finally proved that electric fields inside the belts tear electrons from atoms
and charge them at super speeds, meaning we are covered with an hurricane of
super charged particles. Space scientists believe these findings are
significant because they could also be used to explain the high-energy
radiation belts that circle Saturn and Jupiter as well as around sun-like stars
