The Rise of Machine; A call for a ban on robots designed as sex toys.

Technology comes with different influence and impact in the society. In this era, the rise of AI is of so much debate that some think it is good while some say it’s bad. And today we debate on the artificial intelligent based sex toys.

Abyss Creations, which sells male and female sex toys, is now starting to introduce electronics into their creations. Meanwhile, True Companion boasts that it is developing the world’s first sex robot and promises to launch its first doll, Roxxxy, later this year.
A campaign has been launched calling for a ban on the development of robots that can be used for sex. Campaign leader, Dr Kathleen Richardson said,” Such a use of technology is unnecessary and undesirable.”
Sex dolls are already flooding the market and they are becoming more and more sophisticated and those working in that field are already hoping to bring AI to their sex toys or let’s just call them sex-bots.
“I want to raise awareness of the issue and persuade those developing the sex-bots to reconsider how their technology is used.” Said DR. Richardson, a robot ethicist at De Montfort University in Leicester.
Sex-bots seem to be a growing focus in the robotic industry and the models that they draw on, how they will look, what roles they would play.
She said,” we think that the creation of such robots will contribute to the detrimental relationships between man and women, adults and children, men and men, women and women.”
The bots will reinforce stereotypes of women and the view that relationships need northing more than physical

Roxxxy
Chief executive Douglas of True Companion believed that there is need for products like Roxxxy, the sex-bot. and they won’t be supplanting your wife or replacing a girlfriend. He said this would be a solution for people who are between relationships or someone who have lost a spouse.
Roxxxy will eventually become a self-learning engine that is able to talk to her owner and learn his likes and dislikes. The physical act of sex will only be a small part of the time you will spend with the bot – majority of the time will be spent socializing and interacting, said Douglas.
Some experts are skeptical about claims made for Roxxxy, given the huge complexity of creating intelligent machine but the first version will sell for $7000 – has had thousands of pre-orders, according to Mr. Hines.

So how easy is building a sex-bot?
Dr. Kevin Curran, a senior member of the institute of Electrical and Electronic engineers, believes such products are about to become mass market.
“Building human-like robots is quite easy once the mechanics are taken care of,” Dr. Kevin told BBC. Then turning those robots into attractive companions is simply adding a skin. Not difficult at all.
Dr Curran only worries that the society as a whole is ill-prepared for an age where sophisticated robotic companions are the norm.
What is your take about these sex robots? should we just accept our advancement in technology in various fields?
